One of the joys/hassles of working as consultants is that we travel to many different parts of the country. So it’s a rare event when we work locally. Last year Tony led our strategy work for Bedford where he lives and this year Jim is leading on a Open Space and Sport Assessment for Brentwood Borough Council. He can walk to meetings in the town hall!
We’ve been commissioned to assess the full range of open space and leisure provision in the borough including parks, allotments, playing pitches, indoor sport, nature reserves and churchyards. These studies are linked to the emerging Brentwood Local Plan.
One of the major issues for the study will be ensuring that good provision is made for the anticipated growth in Brentwood’s population. Up to 5,500 new homes will be built over the coming years – we will be making recommendations on the right level of future provision to be included in the Local Plan.
