We recently completed of a combined playing pitch and built facilities strategy for the West Suffolk council. The authority is comparatively new, having been formed by the amalgamation of two smaller councils (St. Edmundsbury and Forest Heath) each with their own pitch and facilities strategies. Our task was to create an overarching strategy whilst also taking into account factors such as historic patterns of participation and the influence of neighbouring centres of population.
We worked closely with the governing bodies of sport and Active Suffolk. We also had to have detailed consultations with the Cambridgeshire FA as many of the teams in the west of the authority play in Cambridge based leagues.
